Alliance Manchester Business School
Part of major refurbishment works within the wider campus masterplan programme to improve teaching and administrative accommodation and to create a new learning library, enterprise zone, education centre, hotel and retail facilities.
Wilson Mason was appointed to develop and design the refurbishment of 4 key areas of the Alliance Manchester Business School spread across three existing buildings encompassing Harold Hankins, AMBS West and Devonshire House. The developed design promotes innovative and creative thinking, reflecting the University’s values with links to Manchester’s industrial heritage.
Floors 5-9 of Harold Hankins building containing cellular and open plan offices and ancillary facilities, each floor has been upgraded and modernised in line with contemporary expectations, with redecoration throughout and renewed break-out areas and refreshment points.
The Enterprise Centre provides an incubator / accelerator space to support ‘start-up’ businesses. This multifunctional space has defined work areas incorporating spaces for collaboration, presentations, study and informal break out seating for social interaction.
Data Observatory comprises a 315° circular visualisation suite, containing 64 screens to display high definition information for researching data within the data science and business analytics field. Additionally, this area encompassed support facilities including a large meeting room and associated ancillary rooms.
Behavioural Research Centre occupies two existing large rooms, providing a dedicated laboratory testing space to run individual and group studies under laboratory supervision. The new layout encompasses a briefing room, testing room (that can be used for individual tests or a group test), eye tracking test room and a managerial suite for running the tests.
