Furness College

The existing 1960’s Furness building was altered to create a new entrance foyer and accommodation stair to link all four floors, maximising the interaction of the four departments of the faculty.

Wilson Mason liaised with a number of stakeholders within the university on this project, as well as managing the differing requirements of each faculty department. The project involved the development of academic offices, teaching and learning spaces within the building, as well as upgrading the building in order to meet current standards.

The phasing of the project included for the removal of asbestos from plant rooms, the use of the ground floor for hosting graduation ceremonies, the refurbishment of the bar in time for the new term and the completion of the top floor residences with access to suit letting periods.
