Doorway to Value Start on Site

Work has commenced on the extension to the Doorway to Value furniture showroom near Chorley, with contractor Rayner Rowen preparing the ground works and foundations for the development.

This flagship store, which quickly outgrew its original premises opened in 1965 on Seymour Street, Chorley, has a reputation for high quality furniture from a wide range of many of the leading brands which appeal to all ages, tastes and budgets.

The two-storey showroom extension will house a further approx. 10,000 sq ft. increasing the capacity to approx. 51,000 sq ft. across the store, to establish itself as the Northwest retail destination. The roof of the proposed extension will include an array of PV panels to harness solar energy for the store and roof lights to allow natural light to flood into the first-floor.

The extension intentionally fragments the building form, creating a series of ‘villa’ style buildings reflecting the scale of the surrounding context, it will offer views into the store from the A6 thoroughfare, creating an intriguing visual display and sense of theatre to attract essential customer visits.

The new showroom extension is due to open in December later this year.
