Winner of the Judge’s Special Award at the British Construction Industry (BCI) Awards, the BBSRC National Virology Centre is an international centre of excellence containing biological laboratories to Containment Level SAPO4. The new science complex extends into three building wings emerging from a central Hub which contains office and catering facilities surrounding a dramatic central atrium.
Wilson Mason worked closely with the contractor from an early stage, adding value through the implementation of knowledge gained from previous technically challenging projects in the scientific field.
The development has attracted worldwide scientific interest in the surveillance and control of viral diseases, and will leave a long-term legacy within the science community.
“The technical experience and dedication of Wilson Mason’s staff proved invaluable to the delivery team. The many challenges that arose were met with a positive approach and ultimately this complex project was a great success.” Robin Marsden, Head Architect, Wates.
