The project is part of the strategy of Danish furniture retailer ILVA to build a number of high quality stores within the UK. The store redevelopment follows the existing Danish model, of large format, spacious, retail accommodation on two level with large areas of structural glazing, and extensive use of natural materials such as basalt and timber.
The Thurrock site is within the Lakeside Retail Park close to the M25 Dartford Crossing within the former M&S Lifestore and adjacent units to provide a total of 12,500 sq m of retail and supporting accommodation on two floors and intermediate mezzanine level.
The alterations include the construction of a top-lit atrium reception area, glass feature lifts, stainless steel and glass staircases and stone and natural timber flooring. Alterations to the east and west elevations to provide large areas of structural glazing, basalt rainscreen cladding and feature entrance and exit lobby structures.
