The scope involved the refurbishment of the existing senior management suite at Salford University to reconfigure the existing accommodation to achieve an interior that is more appropriate in terms of articulation and finish.
To achieve this, it was proposed to install a sequence of asymmetrical radial gypsum suspension rafts which help reduce the excessive floor to ceiling height within the main offices and which also respond to the existing large full height arched windows.
The blank suspended rafts are used as light reflectors and are lit from a high level indirect lighting located on the interior wall.
The furniture chosen has been selected to be both timeless and uncluttered to ensure that the space reflects the characteristics expected of a leading academic establishment. To achieve this, wall mounted storage units have been specified to complement the artwork hung on the walls within the space.
In addition to the main offices, the associated secretariat, support accommodation and corridor space was also refurbished in a similar manner to achieve a consistent interior.
