The Gower Building acts as a gateway to the Highfield campus. Retail units on the ground/first floor include a bookshop and a bank.

The residential top floor has 22 single apartments and studios, for postgraduates.

The exterior finish is rendered insulation on blockwork, giving a high U-value and a very clean line to the building form. Windows are limited to the apartments, and feature windows for the café.

This building sets a design theme for the north of the campus, together with the adjacent Electronics and Computer Sciences block.
