Following selection to the University of Manchester architectural framework agreement, Wilson Mason were appointed to the team for the Smith Extension in March 2004.

This is a state of the art laboratory dedicated to high level research. The building is designed around a central light well, admitting daylight into the deep plan. Laboratory and write up spaces have been separated and stacked to provide the most efficient services solution for their differing uses.
