Wilson Mason generated an option appraisal and outline scheme design as part of a design competition for the University of Lancaster and was awarded the commission in March 2006.

The completed building is to provide the University with a building to house the Information Systems Services department which is responsible for the University IT infrastructure and also has a commercial out reach function to the Lancashire Community at large.

The building contains at its core environmentally controlled server suites, surrounded by support offices where the use of natural light and ventilation is maximized through the use of a light shaft which surrounds the main computer block.

The building is designed to achieve a BREEAM rating of excellent.
