The interior design proposed a “warehouse” aesthetic in which existing brick walls and columns were sand blasted to achieve a distressed look which provides a hard wearing finish for this student environment. The ceiling design was achieved by the inclusion of a number of blank rafts with the associated lighting, fire alarm and emergency lighting being accommodated on exposed cable trays located between rafts.

To provide a robust interior, oak cladding was specified for the counter and floor areas in the vicinity of the bar which can be sanded down when required without replacement. This finish was also mimicked in the feature ceiling raft which is located over the main circulation routes through the bar.

The ceiling raft heights were adjusted within the space to create separate “rooms” for pool, soft seating, darts, TV and a dance floor area.
