Spice Factory

Located in the heart of the Buckinghamshire countryside, the design presents an elegantly shaped facility for the bulk processing of raw food products.

The brief for the development of the new factory required the provision of large high bay storage for the accommodation of ‘goods’ and ‘finished goods’ storage. Provision was also needed for the accommodation of a bulk packaging area located between ‘goods in’ and ‘finished product’ storage to house a variety of product packaging lines.

As part of the client brief, one of the development objectives required the proposed factory design to maximise the available building footprint. The proposal of a dynamic low impact building extends over 200m in length and 50m deep, the profile masks the scale of the building whilst addressing practical considerations such as the elimination of gutters next to dense tree planting.
