Following detailed consultation with Blackpool and the Fylde College, informed by their masterplan, the College wished to create a contemporary new entrance for the entire Bispham campus that also formed a ‘Hub’ to link the existing 1970’s buildings.
The interpretation of the brief located a lecture theatre and teaching space within the Hub building to enhance the entrance, allowing an architectural expression externally to reinforce the main entrance. The new teaching block’s location directs the view of the new entrance Hub building from the campus main entrance.
Works included 2400m2 of new building development and external site improvements. Extensive internal refurbishment of adjacent buildings enabled reconfiguration of the overall access strategy to allow for out-of-hours access for students.
